Ron Sanderson

Ron is the founder of Ursa Major Advisory and a lifelong political junkie and policy wonk. Over almost forty years in the Canadian life and health insurance industry, Ron has focused on life and pension product design and administration, with an emphasis on developing sector- and consumer-friendly tax and pension law.  Prior to forming Ursa Major Advisory, he held government relations and operational advisory roles within the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association and what is now Advocis,  representing both life and health insurance companies and licenced intermediaries for over twenty years.

Previously, Ron spent fourteen years in life product development and administration with an insurer focused on the high net worth market, where he led company-wide tax compliance and advisor technical support activities. Ron qualified as a Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU), a Trusts and Estates Practitioner (TEP),  and is a Fellow of the Life Management Institute (FLMI). He  has taught extensively within the industry and with regulators, and previously worked in research in academe and in both the federal and Ontario governments.

Ron holds degrees in mathematics, physics and education.
